Even if they add it to the pile, at least they'll see your name. You have nothing to lose but postage and dignity.

In this hiring season, we all lost our dignity a long time ago.

Yes, but think of the wonderful curmudgeonly chestnuts of wisdom we we be able to give our children, nieces, and nephews:  "Sonny, I've lost more dignity than youl'll ever have!"

"dignity"  I'm not familiar with that term -- I think I knew what it was years ago, but it's been so long I've forgotten....

I lied--while not an absolute freeze, our campus just suspended all open searches and I hear the same has occurred at most (if not all) of the campuses in the WI system.

Does anybody know whether U of Colorado, Colorado Springs is all or partially frozen? I've searched this thread and seen the U of Colorado- 'sort of'. I'm wondering if there is anybody out there with any current info? I applied for a position (the deadline was extended twice) and its been a while since the acknowledgement email in Jan. There is also absoltuely nothing on the wiki or info from other folks I know who applied.
Thanks Much

I would guess they are.  The Colorado legislature is discussing / voting on Monday on budget issues.  The proposal on the table cuts funding for higher education in half.  I imagine most campuses are waiting to see what happens before moving forward with anything.  For one, I am shocked about the whole situation.

Aye. I felt the same way when I signed another (year!) contract to teach middle school. Please! Give me a break?

I am a recent graduate student and I am now looking for a job. The majority of employers ask for high level of education but I don't want to enroll in a matesrs program at present time. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of e learning programs. I’ve been looking on the internet for something that I can afford in terms of time and money and I tapped into the NEF University web site. They offer certifications and courses in appearently valuable arear -the same of president Obama's job stimulus packege. They are extremely affordable (about $25 for a package of classes). What do you think on these programs?
if you haven’t heard of any yet here’s the link to NEF <deleted> – should I sign up?! Is anyone else looking into the same stuff?

No, none of us waste time on spammers.  I wouldn't go to these people.  First of all, they can do nothing about your spelling irregularities, and secondly, they are the sorts of scum who post spam messages asking about their programs to internet forums so that some other shill can come on and wax enthusiastic about them.

Unfortunately, I think conjugate gives good advice.

According to poliscijobrumors.com, UCSD is now rescinding any offers that were extended without signed contracts. Apparently this is true across the board in all departments. What a terrible situation.  Best wishes to any affected candidates.
