Not yet..... I hope it gets here this time. I haven't yet been able to vote using an absentee ballot because of stupid administrative errors by my county's board of elections, and this is my 4th attempt.

My mother told me she'd got her ballot, and hoped it was OK to vote on it as it was a sample ballot...

Sometimes I despair. Though actually it's possible she mixed them up!

How neat is this?  My town's clerk just sent me an email to let me know that they're sending my ballot out today.

This can actually be ok. I received a sample ballot from California about 2-3 weeks ago with instructions to vote on it if the official one wasn't enclosed (which it wasn't).

Just got mine today!  I'm psyched; it's for a state where it could actually matter.

I will tell her this as she is also registered in California.

I have got my old overseas voter ballot already which was forwarded to me from my UK address. But that's also California so I imagine it varies state by state. And I have also got my current voter registration card.  Except I appear to be a permanent mail-in voter so I won't get to vote at the polling station! Which was one of the things I was really excited about doing once again!  However it appears you can take your postal ballot to the polling station on election day instead of mailing it...

I don't have mine either, after all of the timely required paper requests and two phone calls. I'm getting rather pissed off. We even went through the address several times on the phone and discussed the concept of additional postage for non-US mail at length.

Hopefully I'm not jinxing things by posting. But I'm starting to wonder if there is more going on than just incompetence. Then again, probably not.

Did you do your request through Democrats or Republicans abroad? They take those requests quite seriously because those two organizations KNOW the laws about voting from abroad.

Yeah, I went through Dems Abroad. I'm avoiding them at the moment because they keep leaving me panic messages that I need to send in the Federal Emergency Writein Ballot RIGHT NOW OR THE WORLD WILL END. I'd rather vote the actual ballot and express mail that if I can the week before the election. Or I'll express mail the emergency one.

You don't really need to express mail anything. They accept overseas ballots for a couple of weeks after the election. They don't really ever open and count the things unless the election is close.

Yeah, and that bothers me.

Does anyone know if they count absentee ballots received before election? Or do they just throw them all on the same pile to be opened if someone forces them to later?

Of course they just throw them in a pile. *laugh* what do you think. Don't you remember the stuff from Florida 8 years ago?

Never did get my ballot.

I give up. Apparently, my voting commission has decided that once one has been gone for 15+ years one forfeits the right to vote. Not officially, of course, but it's either that or massive incompetence. I'm not sure which is worse.
