I think it's less that you've done something and more than she (judging from her corpus of posts) struggles with reading comprehension.

True dat!!!

Acrimone, what I was trying to say earlier was that parenting is not a matter of good intentions alone (process without review). Adjusting the process (over and over again) to influence results is part of the deal--when your child misbehaves you don't give up and say, "Oh well...but I tried. I am such a good parent for trying!!"

But this is apparently what Ladyteach does, based on her earlier comments.

Well, what do we expect from a generation (not necessary anyone here, mind you) that has grown up with parents and teachers telling them that effort is the only criterion that matters?

With no criteria for evaluating effort--the first breath, that will do.

I am not a professor at all, despite what I say.

Ah, understanding dawns in the pea-sized brain of Acrimone.  I thought you were talking about biological/medical processes for some reason -- endangering her baby but having things turn out OK.  <slaps self>  Thanks for clearing that up. :)

It wasn't very clear. "Process" is not a word usually associated with parenting.

I'm sure it was doubly lost on Ladyteach.

I am *so* sick of this "If you haven't had my experiences you can't possibly understand" bull$#!t that shows up in every single post.  If I haven't been stalked, if I haven't worked with special ed kids, if I'm not a minority, if I'm not this, if I haven't eaten bull testicles in a cheese fondue I can't possibly understand the trauma...

That's what language, imagination, and intellect are for, people.  So we don't have to live everyone's frackin' life to understand.

Snark alert, with a wink: I have a very vivid imagination, but I'm pretty sure I will never really know what it's like to get kicked in the nuts. ;)

You don't need to know, it's just men making a Big Fuss about NOTHING. It's not a shade on the pain of CHILDBIRTH, which men can't begin to understand and shouldn't judge anyone who has been through it, for anything, at any time, ever.....

Oh, I know. :) All of this has just struck my funny bone.

Seriously, this is why we have the words sympathy and empathy at our disposal.

And for extreme cases, the words 'get over it'.

As someone who is in chronic pain (30+ years and counting) living with someone who has episodic chronic pain (10+ years), I can assure you that no one can really understand anyone else's pain.  It all hurts.  My 10 might be your 8 (or 6), or vice versa, but we'll never know--and what difference does it really make?

Let us also say that "knowing" and "understanding" can be interpreted very differently.

We must be very special folk indeed.  Imagine a big smiley emoticon and the end of the previous sentence.
