I think it is fine, so long as it is an integral part of a larger student project designed to meet the goals of the course.


This is exactly what I'm doing: I have students do presentations on elements of the course that I do not have time to cover in lectures. Gives them experience in oral presentations, plus I get to learn a bit more about some of the topics with which I am less familiar but don't have time to read up on.
