Thinking of making a last minute booking for a conference in Crete (Hersonissos) in September.

Obviously, I would be going for the science - but any thoughts on the venue?

It's not procrastination. It's "just in time" delivery.

Crete is GREAT!  I love it.  Have been there 6 times for various conferences.

I love Chania, looks like a postcard.  Heraklion, while interesting for archeological reasons, fails to stimulate my interest beyond that  - it is just a big dirty city.

Try going to the south side of the island, less touristy.  Hike the Samaria Gorge.

Drink the raki, and have fun!  The Cretans are wonderful people.
