Anyone ever sell or buy a used car on craigslist?  I'm looking to sell one and thought it might be a good place to advertise, but I'm curious if people have had success there.

I have both bought and sold on craigslist.  You will get far more for your car on craigslist than you would trading it in to a dealer.  When I was living in a major metro area, I listed my car at a reasonable price on craigslist late Friday night and had it sold by 11:00 Saturday morning.  Go for it!

Well, that much I knew.  Since the dealer from whom it was bought was close by, we thought we'd see how much they'd give.  Pathetic, even for a dealer.  Not even 10% of the blue book value.

So then what's your question?

I just sold a car on Craigslist, quickly and at a good price. Bring a friend and demand cash.

My sister got rid of a car on Craigslist that didn't even run.  The guy who bought it was a student at auto tech school and wanted it for his project.  She, too, sold the car within 24 hours.

I recently sold my car on Craig's List and it was so easy.  I posted digital photos too (and it's all free).  Within 5 minutes of posting the ad, I had the first call and by the next day, another 30+.  I sold it to the first guy who called for more than I was originally hoping for.
I'm now looking for my new car on Craig's List but having trouble finding the model I want...

If you're going to *buy* a car on Craigslist, I recommend getting a reliable mechanic or at least a friend who knows something about cars to check it out.

I've gotten several from Craigslist but my brother always checks them out first.

I recently sold a car on Craigslist...posted it about 1100AM on Sunday; by 400PM I had a serious inquiry and sold it the next day.  Best experience I've ever had selling a car.  One tip is to post one or two good photos of the car and post as much information about the car as possible.

In terms of the exchange (car for moolah), the test drive was arranged at a public place (parking lot), as was follow-up test drive with buyer's mechanic.  Title transfer was done at credit union whihc was financing the car for the buyer...received certified check.

For anyone thinking of selling on Craigslist...always arrange to meet buyer in public, if at all possible.  There are too many cases of "buyers" turning out to be armed robbers.

It took me 15 minutes, and I got above the Kelly Blue Book value for it. (Admittedly, it was in excellent condition.)
