I moved from Columbus a year ago. Here are some of my choices for food.

Vegan Friendly
North Star Cafe (on High St in Short North)
Benevolence (near North Market)
Dragon Fly (more upscale place in Victorian Village)

Other recommendations--Note these places have veggie choices but I'm not positive about vegan stuff.
Betty's
Surly Girl Saloon (rest/bar on High St in Short North)
Bodega (rest/bar on High St in Short North)
Tip Top (downtown not far from High St)
Basi Italia (It's in Victorian Village and you usually need reservations since its very tiny and very good. It's also in an alley and a little hard to find.)

One other place in Columbus worth checking out is the Franklin Park Conservatory. It's great, especially in the orchid and butterfly seasons. They also have a sizable Chihuly collection mixed in with the plants.

Downtown Columbus also has five live theaters: Palace, Ohio, Southern, the Capital and the Riffe Center.  The Ohio Theater and the Southern Theater are historical theaters that have been beautifully restored; the Ohio is particularly beautiful.  I was an usher for Columbus Association for the Performing Arts for two years, and enjoyed wonderful entertainment such as Broadway touring companies at the Ohio, Pro Musica and Columbus Jazz Orchestra at the Southern, and opera at both the Southern and the Palace.  The Ohio Theater also has a summer movie series which shows the old classics, complete with organ music at intermission.  Check out their website at www.capa.com to see their schedules.
