The Function of Dysfunction

Gotta say, this article describes the faculty at Cow Town U, where I am currently not being an adjunct for a year or so, to a T. Cow Town English faculty, who are otherwise quite decent and charitable people, will rant and rave about almost anything, particularly if it has something to do with admin, who take the blame for everything. Just wondering if this describes anyone else's experience. The author's take is that humanities departments will argue simply to make their professions seem relevant. Ouch.

Thanks k_g,
That was an interesting article.
In my department, we're only at the pouting and eye-rolling stage. But given our current budget debacle, I'm holding out hope for some nifty fireworks next year.
I used to think that the in-fighting was brought on by a kind of claustrophobia -- the fact that humanities professor really are more "trapped" in their jobs/deparments than the average American professional. But maybe I'm wrong.
