Hi! I’d like to be an educator but I’m not sure which good education degrees that I can specialize in? The ones with good pay and don’t take so long to complete? I’d like to pursue the courses online.

Hi abbottsteve -- is there a way to become an educator without having any contact with other human beings?  That would be really impressive.

I can't say I know much about education.  I just teach.

I think the only education degrees you can find that will help you get a job will not be entirely online, or even significantly online; there are many student teaching hours, at least in my state and (I suspect) in every other state as well.  There are also methods courses that many people insist on teaching face-to-face because you cannot demonstrate a certain approach to teaching without, well, being in front of the people to whom you are demonstrating it.

Unfortunately, I think conjugate gives good advice.

There are also alternative routes to licensure in most states (are you in the US?).  Some are on-line, and most get you into the classroom (and into a paying job) fairly quickly, sometimes immediately.

Google for "alternative license" or similar terms combined with the state you want to teach in.  Also see information at the federal department of education (again, assuming you are in the US).

Is this a serious post?  You want to be a teacher but you only want to learn online?

Why all this harsh-itude?  I think abbottsteve's request is perfectly reasonable.  Online he can learn whatever information about education he needs to have.  What's the point in making him do pointless presentations or do group work with a bunch of uninspired peers?  He can have good online interactions with other people if he needs to.

Being a good teacher is mostly a matter of personality and on-the-job experience, and whether he takes his education classes in a classroom or online will make very little difference to his ability as a teacher.

Dollars to donuts this is a bot setup.

New poster, first post, requesting information on being an "educator" (???) with no level or discipline specified, but with good money-making opportunities, and looking for specifically online resources...

... soon followed by the arrival of another new poster saying, "Hi! I've found the following sites to be worthwhile! [insert spam sites]."

What I like best about the OP's post is his desire to choose his specific degree by its availability online, the promise of good pay, and a short path to completion.  Apparently, any old degree that meets these three criteria will do.

(And yes, I'm sure VP is correct.)

Is this the first tag team of bots we've had?

I think abbottsteve should ask zinnerson for a date...

Just because he wants to teach without having to deal with those pesky students, you accuse him of being a bot. Jeez. :-)

I suppose that depends on what one thinks of as good pay.

Neutralname, did you make up this charming word?  Three Hello Kitty stickers for you!

Bring on the spam, edu-bot.  I've got a loaf of Wonder Bread and a jar of Miracle Whip at hand, so all we need is . . . oh crap.  I forgot a knife.

ps:  I'd vote for kssciguy as a real guy.  Or a bot seriously working overtime.
