I recently went from the Irish Epic Tain Bo Cuilinge to Mishima Yukio in only 2 degrees:

Tain

Yeats' dramatizations of episodes from the Tain, some of which are in Noh style

Pound and Fenollosa's anthology of traditional Noh plays

Mishima's collection of modern Noh play.

What about you? What interesting literary paths have you taken?
