I recently moved from the UK to the US 2 weeks ago. I was born in Nigeria but relocated to Ireland when i was 11 and from Ireland i moved to the UK, I lived in the UK for 5 years and i finished my secondary and college education there. I couldn't renew my visa so i moved to the US because my dad lives there. I applied to some US universities months ago while i was in the UK but the application process has been long and stressful due to me completing my education in the UK and to be honest I don't really want to study here. So i decided i would move back to the UK to complete my education so i applied to a UK university but the university is telling me i would be charged as an international student. I don't see how this is right because i finished my education in the UK, paid my taxes and i only moved to the UK because my dad got a job there. The university told me to check a website to see how they reached their decision and according to the website it said that i would have to be an ordinary resident to be charged home fees which i was because i lived in the UK for more than 3 years and i only left 2 weeks ago. I was wondering if anyone could help me by telling me how i could appeal against the situation?

hmmm... can't really help but to suggest that the reason you are being charged international student rates is because you do not have a proper visa for the UK.

You might want to post this in the Academics in the UK forum.

thank you i just did that I'm new to the site so apologies, i did have a visa but it was too late to renew it so i decided to come to the states and apply for a student visa from here but it shouldn't affect my status because i have to be absent from the country for 6 months and I've only been gone for 2 weeks and by the time the visa application has been processed i would have been absent for maybe 2-3 months

I believe that under UK law you have to apply for an expired visa from your country of passport. Do you hold a US passport or a Nigerian one?

I hold a Nigerian passport but i've also got a green card because my parents lived in the US for a while so i didn't have to apply from Nigeria.
