I've always snored - a comprehensive dental exam indicated I have a smaller-than-usual airway and larger-than-average tongue, so that's the probable cause. A few years ago, I was fitted by my dentist for a mouth guard because I was grinding my teeth.  It's clear plastic and fits over my four front bottom teeth.  My husband claims it does wonders for minimizing the snoring, and can tell when I haven't put it in.  It was expensive, but worth it, and it fits me exactly right.  There's no drooling problem because it's fairly small, and it bothered me for a week or so (so much that I only used it for a few hours at a time at first), but has been pretty comfortable since then.
