This Chronicle blog entry talks about new oversight and reporting requirements likely under the Higher Education Act. Here's a quote:

Quote
Judith S. Eaton, who is president of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, predicted that the Higher Education Act — the final terms of which are still being negotiated — will require colleges to report to the federal government on at least 300 new topics, including tuition increases, transfer-of-credit policies, file sharing, meningitis outbreaks, fire safety, voter registration, and technology disposal.

But seriously, who is regulating and overseeing the federal government?

From what I've seen in our local elementary schools, the little bit of green paper from D.C. ends up not being worth the truckloads of red tape.

Umm, you are.
