Every time I see you post, you seem to be attacking someone. I'm sure it just seems that way, but can you be a little more understanding? You make me want the "ignore user" function.
We probably don't have the same person/people in mind, but I spent several hours the other day combing the web for (and installing) Greasemonkey scripts and Firefox add-ons that would make this possible from the user end. Sadly, none of them worked, even those that were for the PHP language that SMF is written in. Can anyone write a Greasemonkey script or a FF add-on that would make this happen? I swear I will learn how to write scripts myself in order to do this -- that's how much I want these people gone from my virtual life. VP Alas, even if you could "ignore user," not everyone else will and will probably still quote them. Some scripts remove quoted text as well. And *anything* would be better than nothing. VP Really? Those computer people sure are smart. Unrelated: I wish non-academic friends would stop thinking I actually know anything useful about my field - no I can't design your garage for you! It would fall down. You don't want that. But I can solve some differential equations on this here napkin if you like. Ah, send them to me, I can definitely design a garage, and it won't even fall down! |

I'm double posting, but mostly because I am one-offing because this wouldn't actually be a helpful contribution to the thread, but it amuses me to no end:
iphoto is convinced my friend is Russ Feingold and tags all his photos as such.
How in the world did iPhoto get that idea? Well, he has some photos of Russ Feingold that were manually tagged. And they have some similar facial features. So the facial recognition in iphoto seems to keep identifying my friend as Russ instead of himself. I would hope that iPhoto gets "trained" with more manual correcting and tagging and this problem will eventually go away, but in the meantime, it amuses me. Well, as friends go, Russ Feingold isn't so bad, really. ;) |

I think it was myheritage.com that had a program that would tell you what celebrities you resemble if you upload a picture. I believe they told me Carmen Electra and... Lou Diamond Phillips.
