I wish I could claim the cake, but I haven't posted anything today, so unless you're reading my clueless posts of yore, I guess I'll have to rustle up some cookies instead. Now where was that cookie thread...

What on earth could possibly make you think that reviving that dead horse was funny, or witty, or a good joke, or in any way possible a good idea?
Maybe the person has been watching zombie movies for Halloween and wanted to share with the fora? [unrelated]

That's quite a statement right there. Not sure that I know who you're talking about, but I can venture a guess.

Don't you hate it when people double post?
And when they say "Don't pay any attention to the way I tell the story, just tell me what I want to hear!"

Uhk. I thought you'd gone away.
Also, can we just not post to that thread, so that it skulks its zombie ass back into the deep bowels of the fora?

Just in time for the holidays: the zombie job posting!
So, your spouse told you that I applied for a job in that department last year. I remember the application quite vividly myself, since I never received any acknowledgment -- not a notice of receipt, not a rejection, nothing. And you'd like me to know I should reapply this year. Well, I'm kind of thrilled to know I wasn't rejected, and kind of enraged that the department is so incompetent they couldn't manage to somehow convey this message to me, and kind of weirded out that your spouse told you about my application.
Is there some way I can send a similarly indirect message back to the department? How about an email ghost that haunts their server and keeps moaning, "Remember the applicants!"

I'm really perhaps the least arrogant person you'll ever meet in real life. I don't think I'm better than... anyone, really, except at being not arrogant. Oh, and writing. I mean, I don't think I'm a good writer, not at all. However, other people tell me I'm a good writer. In fact, I've even won awards for my writing. My limerick, I'm Not Arrogant, Even Slightly, won me the Booker: I'm not arrogant, even slightly; Nor do I take praise for this lightly. Grad students all say That I'm better than they And I look like a cute Keira Knightley I'm hand-picked, of course, like the best Kopi Luwack, or the probosces of the world's greatest rhinotillexomaniacs. - DvF

I have several.
1. Whoosh.
2. <sonic boom> See above, in re: Whoosh.
3. Tell me you did not just ask that question. See, now *that's* a lack of reading comprehension.
4. When you walk away from something, the critical part of making that a successful strategy is actually walking away.
5. Dude! WTF are you doing on that dysfunctional thread? You have your own dysfunctional thread. Stay there. Don't share the H1N1 wealth.
