Are we there yet?

And no, I'm certain I didn't say that. Not even in my dreams.

The record has that you did write:

Get a thick skin, and snark back! :)

Bio- I am available for custom orders! I might be able to whip up a one-use thermite aluminum bat (heh... a one-off bat).

Alan

Hah!  Oh, goodness, yes!  I think you could patent the one-off bat.  Thermite makes good heat and a very respectably fast reaction, but I think we might also want to add a TATP (triacetone triphosphate) outer layer so that it detonates on contact.

I can provide the safety gear for construction. There's all sorts of good gear on the hazmat truck.  8^)

<looks it up>

Is that triacetone triperoxide?

<reads for a few moments>

Whoa... I've led a sheltered life!

Alan

Oops, yes.  That's what I get for Posting While Exhausted.  Peroxide, not phosphate.  It's a blast! ;)

Hmm. Thanks Polly. But you know, that still isn't what Lousia said I said. That "clarify your position?" Not my tone of voice. I'll still say, "Get a thicker skin (and snark back) or avoid the sensitive topics." Nothing there about clarifying anyone's position. I think that goes back to several people on here always saying "cite your references!" or "support your claims!"

But you know, a lot of what I've been seeing isn't the above. I don't see any thick skins or snarking back. I see whining. But then again, that is just me. I could be wrong.

Piece of advice from someone who knows: Grow a thicker skin or stay away from sensitive topics. (And yes, I got that from VP [interthreaduality] back in my newbie days!)

I thought the advice used to be "Clarify your position, ignore it, or snark back".  Have you changed your mind?

*perplexed look*

What? When did I say that? That doesn't even sound like me.
Did I say it when... Nope, not then.
Maybe I said it... No, don't think so.
Hmm. Must have been someone else's words.

Who said that? *hands on hips* Huh?

BTW,  can I join the RCIB? Puh-leeeeeeeeze?

Seriously, do you know how many people here think this is about them?
But I know (yes I do) that it is about me!  And it gives me that wonderful mix of chagrin and pleasure.  Chagrin - my humor is not appreciated.  Pleasure - she thought about me.
OK, I need to leave this room and see some people...

I thought this was about me, too. But then I remembered that I'm actually even funnier than I think I am. So I've got that going for me.

What on earth could possibly make you think that reviving that dead horse was funny, or witty, or a good joke, or in any way possible a good idea?

Not a good idea.  Maybe we should chalk it up to a sugar buzz from Halloween candy.  Let's hope it gradually makes its way to page two...three...four...oblivion.
