If your goal is to break into a school, a bolt-cutter and a tire iron may be more useful implements.  True, these tools are not considered the cutting edge of technology, but they will certainly get the job done.

Sarcasm is wasted on the clueless Pandora :)

Zinnerson's sarcasm?  Ok, now I really am feeling clueless.

I think Swamprat is missing a crucial comma.

Of course, I also sell clues for $5, if anyone needs one.   Anyone at all.  Even those who have been in education for "almost my whole life".

Given my appalling use of punctuation today, it's pretty obvious that I'm not in the humanities ... but maybe OP could give me pointers on the correct use of punctuation.

Well, Alan has the market for quotation marks, but I think the comma concession is still available.

Why not?  Commas: $3 each or 5 for $20.

I don't think the OP goes in for specific pointers.  But, she could probably offer the generalized advice that proper punctuation is good, based upon her many years in education, and that many other universities she has contacted agree.

Hey, no worries.  At last I have a suitable signature line.

This reminds me of a dorky game my supposedly not-drinking father used to play with us about the Christmas carol, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen."

DAD:  So, is it "God, rest ye merry gentlemen"? or. . .
"God rest ye, merry gentlemen"? or
"God rest ye merry, gentlemen"? etc. etc.

I think we now know the traumatic childhood experience that led to my career as an English professor.

Hello everyone,

No need to nominate me for having a knowledge about education. Considering that I have been in education for most of my life, there are some things that I know - at the same time many things still to learn.

Each school works differently and I do understand that many times a college or university will not take a suggestion from an outsider about a course, however lately I have found that the schools I am involved with are open to new ideas. Especially with the growing impact that technology is having in all fields of education - a professor who is knowledgeable on these issues just may be able to break into a school by suggesting some ideas - even if they only develop into aspects of an existing course. This experience actually happened to me recently at one of the schools I teach at. Another school I teach at is regularly asking me for some of my thoughts on new courses.

This post is simply self-gratification.  Try posting to the forum by adding to the conversation.

I think it's a bot.  Who would tell a bunch of professors that she's been in education most of her life....uh, duh...so have we!

See! See! Did I not say a few days ago that it is a Canadian fora-bot??  See!

With apologies to all the Canadians.

Very good, Octoprof!  Here, have a donut and a free comma [,] and let's say no more about it.

A one-sided hug is missing something.  Quotation marks do hugs better, imho.
