Zarathustra -- I think you can get your 5K down to 30 minutes without any problems. Sounds like you're making really quick improvements. Keep it up!
:D Thanks! Its all on you. And very inspiring! Resolution update: Entering week four of waking up before 8am. I've done this every day this month. I love it! I get a lot more done, feel less stressed, and other things seem to fall into place when I do it. I also love morning quiet -- its fantastic. I'm still making this resolution my focus since its the most important one. Everyone else: how is week four beginning for you?

I adore waking up early. I haven't even finished my coffee, and have already responded to all my weekend work emails and done some work on resource materials prep for my students, which means that my late afternoon will be entirely open. Whee! My one resolution isn't going so well: I haven't made anybody cry since the first, maybe second, week of January. Cutting myself some slack, though - I haven't had time lately to do anything tremendously kind or heart-wrenching. But my work-load should slack up a bit soon, and I'll get back on my game.

Good going everyone! Crumpet and grasshopper, I know just what you mean about the loveliness of rising early. After a lifetime of rolling out of bed at the last minute and rushing around in the mornings, last year I too started getting up far earlier than usual, well before I had to be anywhere. Now every morning I relax with my toast and tea, surf the internet, and sometimes even straighten up the apartment a bit before I leave for work or the gym. Mornings are my respite, truly. It becomes a positive feedback, because the earlier I rise, the earlier I fall asleep. Doesn't make for a great nightlife, but those days (for me) are over.
My resolution of self-care and letting go of toxic people is going well. The hardest parts of self-care for me are eating too much sugar, and feeling responsible for everyone (this, of course, is related to the toxic people resolution). As for sugar, I'm keeping good control of it, and I feel much better emotionally and physically. I'm doing better not taking responsibility for everyone's feelings and behavior, so I my emotional energy feels more balanced. The toxic people purge has been great! I ran into former toxic friend/yoga instructor at the movie theater Saturday, but we were going to different movies, so we could just say hello and move on.
Let's keep it going!

Thanks for the early morning validation! I've always liked mornings in theory but haven't developed a sustainable approach until now. Its really a wonderful change. Great update on your resolutions! Letting go of toxic people is a wonderfully freeing thing. Its curiously hard to think about doing, but once done is amazing. Its something I should work on (at a later date) as well. Good work on the sugar too!

I bought a notebook to log my half-marathon training.

Better late than never...
Normally I don't do a New Year's resolution just for the sake of it. However, I bumped into an article about keeping your bathroom clean in just 5 minutes a day, every day. So I thought, hey, I could try that.
I've been on it for three days and I think it's going to work! It's only a quickie-clean, but it keeps dirt, mess, and clutter from building up. Now I'll be able to enjoy having a decent bathroom every day, instead of just once in a while when I get around to cleaning it in a big way.

My fiancée has slowly been getting me to that point regarding the kitchen and bathroom. Also laundry. Also... Well, let's just say my resolution to keep life going good between us is going smoothly.
