I thought I'd report on my AirTran flight!

First off, AirTran is far better than American. Or UsAirways. Or Northwest (all three of which I've flown in the past few months). My outbound flight actually arrived significantly early; my inbound flight was right on schedule.  Online check-in worked like a breeze. You can pay $6 to reserve a seat at booking; I did not. I checked in for my first flight pretty soon after OLCI opened (24 hours in advance), and got one of the awesome, ueber-legroom seats behind business class. For the return, I checked in about 5 hours before my flight and there was plenty of choice (I actually got the entire row to myself).

And:
- Free beverages (non-alcoholic, of course), which now cost $2 on US.
- 1st checked bag free (I didn't check anything, but it's nice to know I could)

All around, both flights were far better than any I've had on a legacy carrier recently. I will happily fly AirTran again.

PS, sorry Scheherazade that I did not die and you don't get my books. I've got a lot of international travel coming up, though...

Faint praise indeed. American has so the bar so low that a microbe can't limbo under it.

Do you mean Will Rogers?

Or Carol Lombard?

Or the US Olympic Skating team in the 1950s?
