Thank you, everyone, and particular thanks to systeme_d for the lovely welcome pack. The reflective blanket will be very useful in my office. I am surrounded by fresh air enthusiasts who insist on leaving doors and windows open in winter.

If you are down in my neck of the woods, that's not so bad. If you are up in the Snowbelt, or Canada, not so much. (Am I wrong to think the Snowbelt is the northern tier of states in the U.S. and Canada is separate?)

Got sucked in to the "favorite student emails" and "worst student sentences" threads and now just. can't. seem. to. stop. reading. Don't forget "favorite student conversations" - that thread is a treasure trove of amusing anecdotes! I, too, cannot seem to stop reading old threads. The wonderful thing about the fora is the number of entertaining/helpful/thought-provoking threads available is so large, it will take me a lifetime just to catch up reading them all. What sucks is getting caught up in said threads....but being unable to reply because they're so old. I do apologize if a reply accidentally gets posted on an excruciatingly ancient thread. I usually make it to the "typing-up-the-reply" stage before my inner editor glances at the last post's date. So far, I've been able to nix those posts in the bud before embarrassing myself by posting them.

Hi everyone, I finally got out of graduate school and now teach at a community college in the middle of nowhere. I've been craving some company and intelligent/fun discussions so I joined. :) I've always enjoyed reading posts on the forum when I was using this site to find a job.

Welcome!
Here's a copy of the Brahms <<Wie Lieblich>>, a hot hazlenut cocoa with nutmeg, and a pitchpipe/metronome/tinylamp to attach to your music stand.
Happy scales!

I believe this is Dr. Evil's area. Already sent. My pterodactyl is collecting s'mores for me. Be sure to hand them ALL over - GH, I'm looking at you. And how dare you pretend to be a newbie for treats. Welcome, newbies. Congrats to Lostinwoods and Capper for turning in the dossier. Good luck!

Yeah, maybe we should make some hot mulled cider so the aroma would waft in the direction of the boards and the newbies would come over and introduce themselves here.
It's hard to hand out packets when you have to run all over the agora to find the newbies...

Welcome, and here are--let's see--your beanie with a whirl-a-gig thingummy (we haven't had those to pass out in a while, new shipment just came in)--a buttered battered corn cob, and an egg timer to keep resetting so you can read "just one more thread."
Sanity is a prized commodity around here, I wouldn't admit to having too much of it.....
