Hi all -

I have a video interview coming up in the near future (distance and time made this the only possibility) and I'm looking for any tips on how to come across well - especially on my research presentation when I'll be presenting to an empty room.

I know to avoid wearing stripes and houndstooth and odd patterns because they don't handle cameras well, but am I missing anything else?

Thanks---

I have been told that you should not wear white, either, since the cameras don't handle that well either.

The camera is your audience.

Will you be able to see, hear, or interact with the audience on the other side? If there is a screen displaying their faces, try to look at the camera when you are talking, rather than directing your answers to the faces on the screen. If possible, have the camera and the screen on your side set up right next to each other so you don't have to think about this.

If you use graphics in your research presentation, make sure they are readable.

I've never done this before either, nor have I seen it done, but there's a *possibility* I'll have to in a few weeks.

Is it like skype or something where basically they only see your head (and you look distorted and yellow) or is it more like the satellite interviews on the news? I assume this depends on the tech capabilities on both ends?

If it's Skype you can wear something nice as a top, and your PJ's on the bottom.
