Salt and pepper.  How can there be any other way.

The best bagels in the world are H&H Bagels in NYC.  To die for.

And they ship.

I've got to agree, on both counts.

It's even worse. He eats them slathered in strawberry flavored cream cheese that has been dyed pink.

Oh, that is worse.  Much, much worse.

Particularly when you look into exactly where the "pink" color comes from:

In theory, if the strawberry cream cheese is certified kosher, it doesn't contain carmine-based dye.  In practice, who knows?  (Not that a petroleum-based factory product is any more appetizing...)

Of course, if it has real strawberries in it, it might just be pink naturally.

I'm not putting "strawberry-flavored cream cheese" on the poll.

Frankly, strawberry-flavored cream cheese--regardless of the source of its color--is an abomination.  Cream cheese should be plain or chives (which I don't particularly like, but will accept as authentic).  Or maybe lox-flavored, if one is on a tight budget.  Even veggie cream cheese is pushing the very limits of acceptability.

My maternal grandparents: sugar and cinnamon
My paternal grandparents:  salt and pepper
I go with my paternal side on this one.
