In the article, "Academics Talk With Government Representatives About Creating a National Language Policy," we are told that:

"A professor of German took one more step in bringing experts together to work on developing a national language policy on Wednesday."

and that

"The conference accomplished more than what participants agreed was a much-needed dialogue about how the country can build its linguistic competencies to meet its military, intelligence, diplomatic, and economic needs."

I hope that those involved recognize that there are reasons other than meeting American military, intelligence, diplomatic, and economic needs for promoting the study of foreign languages.

You need a name, not a number.

I don't speak your language.

How in the name of heaven did the US ever possibly survive without a National Langauge Policy?  I mean did no one think of the safety of the children?
