One nice thing about Facebook is it's less open to the public. You cannot browse a profile as you can with MySpace, without first being part of that user's friend network. There are porn stars, spam bots, and fakesters on MySpace. On Facebook, it's much harder to masquerade or use the site for the same kind of mass exposure. Hence, much fewer random harassers.
Maybe we should trade user names for scrabulous match ups.... might be problematic ;)

After reading about the instances where adcoms declined people for having "too much information" on their FB pages, I decided it was time to limit access to friends only. I also triple-checked to make sure I did not have anything potentially offensive or incriminating on my page, just in case.
I think FB can be a wonderful networking tool, if used correctly. I keep up with friends from overseas research trips, ex-professors, and people I've met at conferences. However, there is always the temptation to post personal information that you may not want the entire world to read. This is what gets people into trouble.
To answer the original question, I would say the vast majority of my colleagues have FB accounts. Some even use them responsibly.
