Just curious is all.
Me last year: four PhD programs. Total about $630. That didn't include GMATs or whatev it is called because none of the schools to which I applied needed them (am Cdn, but applied to one skl in the USA that did not require).

I have spent about 2500 on my 12 applications. Its on the high side, as I am international and have spent some extra on credential evaluations [GPA conversion to 4.0] and getting feedback on my essay.

I have spent $1,000, all told, for 10 applications. That includes test fees, postage, and application fees. I wish I could give you an exact number, but I can't. It would have been good if everyone took amex, because I could have used the points

I applied to 6 places and probably spent around $600:

-- $360 in application fees
--$40 in postal fees (approximately)
--$200 for the GRE and score reports (approximately)

On a related note, why on earth would someone opt to apply to ten or twelve graduate programs?

I have no idea how much I spent, by the way. It was a long time ago. But I only applied to four programs, so it probably wasn't that much.

The same reasons because of which you would apply to 4 or 6 when you finally are going to go to just 1.

Five PhD program applications + 10 transcripts each from 3 schools (undergrad, Master's, and summer study in Europe) + postage for application materials came out to about $500, and that's only because I sent most of my materials near the deadlines, requiring 2-day mail.

Thank goodness I received a performance bonus at my job right before the holidays.

I applied to four programs from overseas and paid approximately $400 (GREs, transcripts, assorted postage fees).  Judging from other responses so far, it seems ~$100/application is the standard cost.

I applied to two schools. Each had an app. fee of approx. $60. Postage ran about $3 each. No fees for transcripts. Some fee for GRE scores, but I can't remember how much. $25? Maybe.

So, about $151. Hell, I'll add $9 for ink and paper and make it an even $160.

No fees for transcripts.

Ugh, seriously? I spent $130 on mine. $6 for one school, $5 for another, $2 for the last. Ten copies each. Such a ripoff.

Yup, thank you alumni association. I requested dozens and dozens of official transcripts, all free of charge.

My current school charges $10, I think. I'm not looking forward to having to purchase those.

I'm a member of the Alumni Association of the $6 school, my undergrad degree-granting university. A lifetime member, I might add, bought and paid for rather dearly. *sigh* Cheap bastards.

I applied to 14 schools this year, and probably blew about $1,300. And that's with free transcripts.

My undergrad institution charged $10 a piece.

About $500, including copies of GREs, Transcripts, and application fees.  We saved some money (my husband is the applicant) by emailing anything that needed to be sent by actual mail to his parents in the States (we live overseas) and having them mail it instead for us.  This is for six schools.
