Day-um, BPN and BTR!
I am in awe. And grateful for the gifts! Of course I will report back post-conference, but let me show you both right away how on the mark you are already.
(Big Yay on the trine of Pluto to Uranus!)
My schedule already includes: Chair of one panel, respondent on another Interviewing and videotaping my (genius) mentor for a project (service to dept/profession) Schmoozing with Big Deal Dude who has already introduced me to Tech Foreigners, and who will be publishing my next Religion/Tech article Getting two (maybe three) folks to publish their books in the series I coedit Schmoozing with former students Schmoozing with amazing far-away best pal and her amazing family
And hoping to introduce two people for non-work-related (♥) reasons.
And BPN, I ordered that book Two Days Ago. Score.
I just wish I could find a way to make some of this benefit me financially....

systeme d I just wish I could find a way to make some of this benefit me financially.... It will but not in the "lottery jackpot" way----if you make (say) 50,000 at current job and then get an endowed chair or a jump up the academic ladder to a job that pays (say) 80,000-100,000? Then you will benefit financially. There is where your fortune lies (well, directly from you that is. what someone else might bring into your house in money terms is a different matter altogether.)

Ah, MG. Saturn is still conjunct your Sun and it is your Mars return(of which you will have three chances to develop and energize because of the retrograde). These are fantabulous career cycles to have in focus at a meeting. If your responsibilities and professional profile haven't already taken an uptick since Saturn entered Libra, it will. You also get three passes of that aspect as well. Time to take things to the next level. Its also your Venus return and the New Moon. So many beginnings and things to be seeded! This conference can be huge for you. You are primed to be noticed and make good connections. You can come off as a subtle yet confident heavyweight in training or a charming and dedicated scholar of deep and serious thoughts that are lofty, wise, farsighted and portentous. Believe it or not, it could be good for you as a Leo/Libra type to make sure your freshly cut hair looks really great and/or have a subtle gold accessory(watch?). If you have blue eyes, pick a shirt that really sets them off, or a tie (if you wear them) of softer or deeper watery tones. Not the cornflower blue that is done to death. Weigh carefully the possible opportunity for a conference hookup, especially if approached by handsome senior scholar(s) or silver fox-type who dresses well(tSaturn in 7 and all the hotness houses aflame). Discretion is all. Risky, but not necessarily bad(?). Any risks taken are not a sure thing either way, but almost everything that happens is the start of something you will see more of. Just putting that out there. It's staring me in the face. PS: Radar is way too psychic. Your house of insurance agents (and research funding/other people's money and possibly even passion) is lit up like a Christmas tree. SD: Cool, you will have a really good time. I love a buoyant Jupiter aspect when I don't want to eat it. They feel like everything is right with the world. Your earning planets are Mars and Pluto. Keep thinking and writing, the retrograde is the long run-up to a new cycle. Your planet of outside and grant funding is Venus. It will require some patience, hard work and moderate expectations because of the natal Saturn aspect(not a lot of 'lucky money' when Saturn gets involved), but when Jupiter('lucky money') comes to it and Uranus also creeps up on it by sextile, you should be looking for results (second half of 2010 when the dasa sandhi is also in play). You can hope/plan to get some nice money, start teaching the material(?), and a wield lot of communicative power with the tech projects. On preview: endowed chair or a jump up the academic ladder to a job that pays (say) 80,000-100,000? Then you will benefit financially. There is where your fortune lies (well, directly from you that is. what someone else might bring into your house in money terms is a different matter altogether.)
I concur. Dasa sandhi and/or tJupiter trine the MC, for the win.

I don't care what you do with them during the off hours but I want them returned to the "working hours" of the day in good shape. They have "opportunities" to think up for me and that should be their first priority. That you are in a different discipline from mine is of no importance---we know not from whence our foreigners and they opportunities will originate. Handle them with care Mr. "Hotness."

VP congrats on your new lease on posting or whatever that VDSM thing means. I did pick out a new sig for you before you did for yourself. I prefer "My ability to write is wonderful and magical." In case you were wondering.
Well, it certainly is a lot more melodious than the poo one. ;) Thank you for the kind words. (I need to leave a thank-you on that other thread too.) No rainbows or ponies for Sadge this month, according to Suze. In fact, it's as close as I've seen her come to "grim" in a long while. I don't think she uses the phrase "dear Sagittarius" once! By the way, Naan, thank you also for some insight you gave me long ago and of which I have become increasingly mindful. I said I didn't think I was a very good Sadge because I was supposed to love travel and physical freedom and be an adventurer, and I hate travel and am often content to stay near home. You said that that could also be interpreted as wanting intellectual/creative/work-related freedom and chafing at restrictions (to put it mildly), and some recent work events have illuminated just how true that is. This is particularly evident when what I'm chafing against are administrative idiocy or social conventions regarding speech. (I stink at STFU.) So, thank you for the insight; it helps me to remember that yes, I am angry, and yes, that's a stupid policy, and yes, they're all idiots, but also yes, I am particularly sensitive to these things, perhaps more than other people, and therefore it might not be a good idea to storm the barricades. VP

Rest easy, BTR. The guy I've got my eyes on at the moment is 100% American :). Naan: I've noticed that Saturn definitely seems to be coming into play. I definitely have new-found stature and responsibilities, but so far they tend to be on campus rather than in the discipline in general. Hopefully that will change.

Well, my "foreigners" and their "opportunities" have arrived and I will admit I'm not thrilled. Some Seventh Day Adventists whose English was somewhat limited just came and tried to recruit me. I'm sure their religion is delightful but, alas, it is not for me.
November 2nd and all the anticipation for the month is over... on the other hand, there is always the dread anticipation of wondering where Saturn and his wingman Pluto are and when they will attack issue another lesson.
Fun while it lasted! I was hoping for something more along the lines of an invitation to speak at Oxford, a 'foreign language edition' of my fabulous book, or some continental jewel thief in a dinner jacket trying to lure me to Monte Carlo for a dirty weekend. Only I would get missionaries...

Well, maybe there will be more foreigners who come your way. Plus, aren't religious zealots a relatively common fixture in your area?

Saturn transiting my fourth house--I moved from my partner and a beautiful old house in the country to one bedroom in an apartment with a stranger/roommate. I'm single and NOT loving it.
I feel like a foreigner in my own life.

Nothing seems to be going right at the moment. I don't mean anything tragic, just a seemingly endless series of roadblocks and obstacles, big and small. It's wearing me down, and I'm having to wage an epic internal battle to keep from giving in to discouragement.
I'm even afraid to look at Susan Miller's forecast. I'm not sure I could handle her excessive cheerfulness--and if she's not cheerful and optimistic, that might be even worse.

Saturn(series of roadblocks and obstacles, big and small) has been squaring your Jupiter. As Jupiter is very well and prominently placed, the powerhouse planet in your chart, you can't help but notice. It is easing off. As they are both exalted, it is an even match. Read or don't read whatever you want.

Read or don't read whatever you want. Interesting that you say it's an even match: I've been acutely aware that the biggest struggle here isn't against the (objective) hassles and issues, but my own reaction to them. I'm feeling the pull toward pessimism and despair, but am mostly managing to hold on, and am trying to deal with the disappointments and frustrations in productive ways. (Although I confess that my cookie consumption has been much higher than is strictly recommended.) Am I right that the negative mindset also has to do with Saturn? And my big (probably rhetorical) question: am I ever going to get caught up with everything?

Yes, negativity is Saturnine, but the Scorpio season/worldview is keyed to a darkish awareness too. I was/am avoiding talking about it too specifically. I am not sure I believe in being caught up. You will have to explain that one to me. If you feel oppressed by looming responsibilities, yes, that will go away.
Now that I look at your chart, instead of going from memory, I see Jupiter is applying a squaring to your Neptune. Perhaps you are trying to eat to stay grounded. As an earth-water type, a lot of inflated Neptune may feel very floaty, which is a very weird combination with the heaviness of Saturn somewhere else.
Also, this Mars journey is through your 12th house. That seems to me to suggest that you should not be overly concerned with the expression of action in the obvious external places. It will not affect your career long term. If you can get the Virgo and Capricorn to agree that what you are doing behind the scenes is okay, it will be productive in a way they are not equipped to understand in the earthy way they perceive.
I think the most 'negative' thing I can say about all of this is that all the Leo themes that you tend to enjoy in smaller doses and Fire as the inferior function/element in your chart are going to get an overhaul. I would definitely work with fire. Perhaps think about it as a distant red giant that is warming you from afar and you need to be sensitive to its heat from many light years away(red giants are qutie distant).
Or, a candle in a dark cave that you want to see fully lit. There is something written/painted on the walls of that cave (it's dry and unscary in there) and your eyes are going to be adjusting with the retrograde do that you can see them.
I think that is a pretty interesting(unexpected) metaphor, even though I just wrote it down for you.

I just get tired of dealing with the same stuff over and over again. Play possum? No use it comes and finds you. Meet it head on and try to change up the energy or dynamics? It changes up to meet me. I'm just at a loss. Try? Hide? It seems to make no difference. Its all just an endless loop.
