It's not your course.  Unless the theoretical framework is, "Kill all the ________'s", support the course or leave.

I agree with this, although I would probably modify it just to say EVEN IF "the theoretical framework is "Kill all the ______'s," support the course or leave."

If the theoretical framework really and truly is as bad as you say, then have you considered that teaching there will stamp you forever as A Guy Who Taught Students In Screwy Department X?  If you really are teaching a class in Advanced Phrenology, then how good is that going to look on your CV anyway when you apply to legitimate schools?  On the other hand, if you are complaining because the course is modeled on Psychoanalytic Theory, and you were trained as a Behaviorist, then maybe your graduate school did you a disservice by failing to teach you to think critically about alternative viewpoints.

dr_stones: Since when does 'his ass' merit a strike-through?  Where do you teach, creeping Jesus College?

I suspect the point is that it's professional to say "Fire him" and not professional to say the more satisfying "Fire his ass".

Based on Dr Stones' track record here, I seriously doubt that he is particularly worried about being caught using bad language.

P_M, I suspect lodore66 is nuance-challenged and mirth-impared.

Oh come on now, I have a good laugh at least once every eight months.  And as for nuance, well Stones, it's not like it's a required quality for interpreting your posts . . .

Agreed!

Just like with the Frosh, gotta dumb down the material . . .
