Humanities post docs in the UK
«

Hi-
There are a couple of experts in my field with whom I would love to work with in a post doc type situation. I am in the arts and humanities. (I will finish my PhD in the US in a couple more years.)
Do they have this sort of thing in the UK??? How would I find information??? Are they simular to post docs in the US?

What is your citizenship?
You may look into RCUK fellowships.

Yes, they have post-docs in the UK. Typically, 2-3 years. I don't think for arts it helps, but for others the NRSA post-doc award (NIH) is still obtainable if the post-doc is in the UK.

Your environment sounds vaguely toxic. Or maybe just characteristically British.

There are some schemes where you can apply for a fellowship and don't have to be a UK citizen. I know that the joint ESRC/MRC scheme is one (not much use to you) but also Leverhulme, which may be a bit more helpful.

Have you thought about writing a clear and concise letter to one (or both, if they're not in the same department) of the people you'd like to work with stating your qualifications, your focus, and your question? It can hardly hurt.
