Excuse me, but I think the topic of discussion is a WIKI, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

If there should be a link to the new Wiki on the old Wiki, then HIT THE EDIT BUTTON AND TYPE IN THE URL.

If you discover information on the old Wiki that could be productively added to the new one, STOP BEWAILING ITS ABSENCE AND JUST ADD IT ALREADY. NO ONE IS STOPPING YOU.

Thank you. I feel better now.

I also applaud nailman for taking the initiative to move the wiki to a more sophisticated site. But unless you remove the info from the old wiki pages and replace it with links to the new wiki pages, people will just keep updating the old one - not necessarily because they like it better, but because they have no way of knowing of the new one's existence. And those of us who want to read those updates will have to keep going back to the old wiki, whether or not we think the new site is a better option.

As the poster later wrote, it's a wiki, for goodness sakes. Edit it however you see fit. All I'm saying in terms of "people's choice" is that I don't care what people do. In my discipline, for example, since someone kept deleting our discipline's page again and again, I finally started the new wiki, and now everyone is using the page there. If that isn't the case for you, well, use the old wiki.

The only other option I can think of is to join the ranks of saboteurs and go around vandalizing the old wiki to try and get the people to join the new one. But that would be silly.

Suggestion for YOU: Just add links to the new wiki to your discipline's page, if you're even interested in using it at all. And add links to the old wiki from the new wiki page for your discipline...

I just wanted to thank nailman for creating the new wiki.  It seems like there's mostly been negative feedback on the forums.  However, I interpreted it as a sincere attempt to help us all out during a very critical time in the job search.  My field has cleaned up and updated the scratchpad wiki, and it seems to be working great.

Yes, ditto, Nailman. Thanks for the new wiki. My field has also been updated to the scratchpad.  You know, I promised myself I would STOP spending hours daily on the CHE (it's become a bit of an unhealthy addiction) and limit myself to only one or two days a week (not seven).  I have been successful for the past week at staying off the computer... I come back... and I missed all the "drama."  Thanks again for making the new page.... I was freaking out until I saw that my field's info has not been forever lost in the ether.

Most wiki vandalism occurs because people want links to their web site.

On a side note: I was not, and remain not, prepared to read multiple uses of the words "old wiki."

Perhaps this is because you are an old Wookie?
