Ok, I did not intend this thread to be entirely about me.  Perhaps 78 percent about me, but not 100 percent.  What are other forms of oppression and discrimination endured by forumites?

Oh, spork. I suffer from being not-so-thin, childful and maybe too much of an extrovert. And I'm what some call a "not-so-typical math person."

Actually, I'm glad I'm not a typical math person! I work with those people! ;-)

Donkeys? I can see the others, but donkeys?

Interthreaduality.

Would it help if I explained that Shadowfax is a farrier and some of the descriptions of the job were deliberately left obscure?

There you go, outing me again.

There are some who discriminate because of that, but I manage. It never makes me feel oppressed.

Oddly enough, I don't bend over near as much as I was when I started posting on here, and that is just fine with my back!

Ah, but I didn't totally out you!

But I guess, a person really needed to be there to get the donkey reference. My explanation was oh so inadequate.  *sigh*

True. We have gotten a lot of miles from the donkey, too.

It's ok, some things you had to experience for sure. I wonder what evil posts would come up if we searched mini-donkeys?

Um. If you want to do it, go ahead. I'm afraid to. ;)

I will really begin paying attention to donkey references. I might even have to do a search for them on the CHE forums. gennimom, it's not your fault. I'm just late to the game.

where i live and work, thin and child-free are the things most people aspire to. Child free by choice is extremely common-the norm-where I work. Deciding to have kids would be just rare.

Are we really back to doughnuts again?

Ah. No problem. That is the trouble with coming in during the middle of a conversation. People make interesting but obscure references that leave the newcomers scratching their heads. Then, if you want to find out what is the ruckus all about, you have to try the search function. Yech!

Eventually it all becomes clear.  There were many mysteries when I first joined the fora, almost a year ago.  Just a few that come to mind:

beagles
blue, rhinoceros, triangle
the clique that doesn't exist
hu
self-massage under one's shirt
john_proctor's thighs
a certain forumite's 10-day ban
*** ***** (a$$ clown)
kitten killing

There were more.  None are mysteries to me now.

Welcome, balancing_act!  And fret not: Hang around long enough (or perhaps too long?), and you will come to understand and cherish all the mysterious references.

Beagles?  What beagles?  Did I miss this?  Do I even want to know?

Odd you should post this...I've been looking for Blue, Rhinocerous, Triangle, and can't find the origin or why it's funny.

Is this the original?

And ooooh, which forumite?  What was the ban?  Tellmetellmetellme!

Thank you for the warm welcome infopri! I picked on some of the rather quickly, was lurking at the time of the beagle (I think, wasn't it rather sad?) I've been seeing a good bit recently on john_proctors thighs. They're all abuzz around here. In fact, it may have been the curiosity and interest in j.p's thighs that brought me from a lurker to a poster. As to the rest, they are still a bit foreign, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I do enjoy the personalities here.

Almost a year ago? You have over 6k posts? I have been around since before the system transitioned to keeping track of posts and I don't have that many posts and yet I feel like I live here.

Do a search for some of those terms and you will find some humor. Be prepared to spend some time reading those threads.

May I recommend the last half of the all female forum thread? Oh, and Kissyface college.

The BRT thing was really funny, but my favorite is still *!*. Ah, memories!

I miss CBL.

Interthreaduality.

I should start charging royalties for using my word.  And I know how to make the search function do my bidding, so I'll find out whenever it's used!

That'll be $27.50.  I take cash, check, money order, or PayPal.
