I teach at a community college and am a librarian. Does that not qualify? I am not here to ruffle feathers.

It does, but I'm guessing you adjunct, right?  That's different than a TT track job.

I agree about traditional schools only going online due to for-profits.  That said, why go to an FP if you can get the same degree from a non-profit (for less cost, most likely). 

In business, it doesn't matter that much (hence UoP's billions and football stadium).  Academia is another matter.

Adjunct, yes. Three classes per semester as I work on my PhD in history. Will I ever try to teach for a university? Probably not. I think that the tenure track is a great thing to go after if you want it, but I like the teaching first aspect. Again, that is just me. I like my set up at the community college. It is not the publish or perish mentality.

I agree with you on that point, although I think the luster off the University of Phoenix's lily maybe wearing away. I think, and this is me and my opinion only, that the University of Phoenix maybe cheapening education a bit. They want to be a McUniversity and I think education is much more sacred than that.
