The poll is coming off the EU meet up thread. You can vote for two cities - or 'other' or 'not interested'

I think that February is a good time for a meet. Fares are low and with Easter being in March this year, we can't use that month. April and May are just too crazy for me with students (end of year rush). I assume that everyone has the same view of April and May.

I've tried to list the cities that were mentioned in the other thread... with the exception of Swindon. I do know that everyone is really wanting to go to Swindon... but do you think that we're ready for that nightlife?

I've also tried to list cities that are serviced by cheap airlines such as Ryan Air. I did notice that Ryan does fly to Tenerife if anyone wants really warm.

Personally I'd like some place that is snowy... it's winter and I'd like to see some real winter instead of just the midlingly cold gray we usually get.

So... vote...

I forgot Berlin.... I've been told that it's the best place to go these days. Sort of like the way Prague was before everyone found it.

Berlin is also good. Maybe the trains will even run by then.

I voted for Amsterdam. You can have a lot of fun there...

Ironically, I will be in the Salzburg area, but over Xmas.

What about Copenhagen (that was my "other")? Good beer, good food, beautiful city, easy to get around in, lots of cultural things to do.
Will be pitch dark all day in February, though.

Paris....no no no. (I need a new word for "no" to express my horror here.)

No worse than most of the UK, though!

Is it the dog muck or the Parisiens themselves that you find so off-putting? (Either would be perfectly understandable, of course ;-)

In no particular order - Rome, Prague, Berlin (never been), Amsterdam, Geneva, Nice, Dublin.

These are all places that I can get to fairly easily from my location in the back arse of beyond. Zero chance that I could get to Salzburg.

Nothing against the Parisiens, actually; it's the diabolical traffic, the entire streets used as urinals, the confusing signage at train and metro stations (if trains and metros are even running), the appalling prices and, finally, yes, la ***** de chien.

Expat, is it possible to alter the poll to include Berlin, or do we just have to discover support for that by talking?

There will be better chances of snow in Berlin than Amsterdam, I think.

How do y'all feel about snow? My husband reacted with horror at the thought of going any place with snow.

Personally I'd love Berlin...

Berlin is possible but expensive.

On further reflection, this all sounds a bit ambitious to me. I vote for Edinburgh or Dublin.

I can't revote!

Isn't Dublin rather expensive on the accommodation side?

<strips down to his green leprechaun underwear and jigs....>

I'd have to check about flights, but I don't think I can get there easily.

How about Belfast? Probably easier to get to than Cork.
