I know that I have a warped sense of humor, but our photography program left yesterday with 40 students to visit Paris.

Eurostar now leaves from St Pancras.  When we go to London, we take a train that arrives in St Pancras.  Paris is now less than 4 hours away, including transfer time.  Booking tickets next week...

Ouch ;-)

We managed to get out a couple of hours before the shut-down was due to start on Tuesday evening.

I hope your bank balance is feeling well, Eurostar is not a cheap option.

The TGV, when the CGT deigns to allow it to work . . . now that is cheap. 60 euros first class return to Dijon!

Paris is on strike... ain't much moving. Except the students who are probably rioting at their universities.

You have to worry, though, about the kind of student who riots because they want to be a civil servant and retire at 50!

I don't think £59 is all that bad.  The only real problem is that the reduction for children is a measly £9 - those two little buggers are going to cost me £50 apiece.

Aaah. A man booking several weeks in advance! How organised!

Leave it for a couple of weeks, and the prices get, er, interesting. We ended up paying £138 return apiece in standard class. They're also completely inflexible about single tickets.

Stuff 'em in a suitcase and take them as baggage? No weight limits on Eurostar ;-)
