I completely agreed with the decisions this week. I could not believe Kara was still there; she is quite weak compared to the rest of the designers. Being a very long time fan of Godspell, my opinion is that ONLY Mondo hit the mark for the character--rich, eccentric but also a touch bohemian. Michael's design was merely pretty. It in no way answered the challenge. Austin's and Jerell's looks had something 1960's Broadway about them. Both were inappropriate for this specific musical. Did the producers allow the designers to at least watch some clips of the movie version?

Yes, Kara had to go. She probably should have gone well before this.
But I have to say that although I don't know a lot about theatre, Austin's design looked like an actor could actually move and dance and run around in it. I liked it a lot, and thought it was a smart design.
I think I just like Austin. He reminds me of an old friend whom I haven't seen in years.

Off topic, but I thought I'd mention I was standing next to Gretchen Jones last night.

Well... dish. What was she wearing? Dang, a technical question. I did notice a sort of fur coat (faux, I hope). In my defense, it was quite dark.

Anyone still watching? How the heck is Jerell still on? Ethnic or tribal details can be cool, but his model looks like a Pier 1 threw up on her every week. This week, she looked like a tacky cruise line act. And Austin Scarlett's model for the lights challenge was Midsummer's Night Dream on LSD. I absolutely hated it. I also don't know what the judges were on praising Kenley's proportions. But then again, I thought the lights challenge was kind of lame.

The challenge was lame. It was time for the loser to go, but I didn't really like the winner's look either.
I watched the after show this week. It was so obvious from everyone's body language who had won. It was interesting to see Austin's mustache was gone by the after show. That was just a bad fashion choice. Austin, style thyself!

I may be done with PR all together - All Stars or otherwise - after this season. I was originally heartened by the fact that the contestants actually had creativity, talent and could sew (unlike the last 4 seasons). They're clearly running out of steam in terms of coming up with new challenges. I'm also starting to question the judges' taste levels, though I recognize that the outcomes are probably at least in part, rigged. And of the finalists, even though they're talented, they have very limited range. Austin Scarlet, for instance, does not seem capable of making anything that falls too far out of the bridal, prom, pageant or evening gown range. Once the current trend toward 1950s silouettes ends, Kenley could have a wonderful career designing costumes for Mad Men or other similar period dramas...assuming that they aren't all replaced by yet another Real Housewives franchise, or other such dreck.

Mondo is the only truly talented designer left (ever there?). Let's just fast-forward to Fashion Week so I can see his runway show.

As have I. And I still like Austin, even though his range might be limited. Mondo should probably win, but his self-defeating attitude might trip him up. I thought Kenley's design for the lights challenge was fantastic.

Even though Jerell made it pretty far in the competition during his original PR season (same season as Kenley and Korto(?), where Leanne won), I don't remember liking Jerell's designs/aesthetic/etc. all that much back then either. But iirc, he almost made it to the finale. IMO, the judges should have sent him packing weeks ago. My thoughts were that the judges producers probably kept Jerell around as long as they did because of the potential for drama.

I like Kenley's stuff. Some of Mondo's design are horrid. Jerrell is awful. Some of Michael's designs are OK, but some are terrible. Auston has made good stuff.

I think that the judges missed the mark this week. Michael should have gone home. Mondo's dress shouldn't have won, but he deserves to be in the final. I didn't care for Kenley's dress, but I think she's a better designer than Michael, even with her limited range. I loved Austin Scarlet's coat...perhaps not the color, although I think that a coat like that does work better in a bright color.
And could Nanette Lepore have been a bigger biznitch? I've seen wet paper towels with better personalities.

It was a tough show this week --- I too loved Austin Scarlett's coat, but could tell it was rumply and unfinished. I loved the pattern Kenley used, but it just pisses me off to see the print matched up so poorly! Also, without the keyhole and stripe down the front, the dress was pretty blah and undesigned. I think Mondo's dress would have been cuter without the bottom ruffle and shortened and transformed into a boxy little one-shoulder top over dark jeans. (I would wear that) But then it has nothing to do with the challenge or requirements. Anybody feel like he's actively throwing the competition at this point? I feel like he's unhappy with being pre-anointed the winner and is pushing against that, or maybe self-sabotaging.
It's weird how two of the designers, when they were told this would be sold in actual stores, went from form-fitting to shapeless sack in their designs. Dunno what's up with that.
