I think Tim must be the quintessential design professor. I always wish they'd give us more of his time conferring with the designers.

Definitely. And even though his show left a lot to be desired, I'd love to have him come make over my closet.

I'm also sad to see Chris March go--he has far more creativity than Rami. I also didn't think the hair thing was that creepy....I'm sure it was washed...and it didn't look like human hair. Ah, he reminds me so much of my cousin...
Unfortunately I think that little pipsqueak Christian will win. I really don't understand why everyone thinks he's so great. He pretty much makes the same thing every time--some short, fitted jacked with some kind of frill on it and skinny pants. If the judges want to get on Rami for draping everything (as they should have done), why in the world didn't they get on Christian for using the same jacket design over and over and over???
Love love love the show. I wish I could get ahold of Tim Gunn and have him help me pick out clothes (I'm short and have a serious problem getting decent fashionable clothes). Did anyone here catch the article he had on the Chronicle some months ago?

Christian and his attitude remind me so much of some of my students that a win for him is going to be a multi-year setback for professors everywhere who try to not that s*** out of their students before they hit the "real world." Tim Gunn's interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show is great: http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=155947&title=tim-gunn

I agree. Everything Christian makes looks like bad 80s throwbacks to me. And that giant neck ruffle??? Really??? Someone would wear that?!?! I'm sad Chris is gone mainly because I don't like any of the three that are left. Of course, I could never be a judge on any of these shows because it's all about personality for me.

Yes! Tim was outstanding on The Daily Show.
I'm intrigued by the idea that Tim Gunn is among us here... I forget that he is a professor! I'm sure he wouldn't have the time, but wouldn't it be great if one our DSMs was actually Dr. Gunn?

Did anybody else here catch the bemused looks on the designers when Tim Gunn said his "diva" name would be "polysyllabia"? I just about fell off the sofa laughing!

Oh, if that's the case, then Tim, you should know that you might have to marry me someday. My partner and I have an emergency plan for when the Evangelicals take over and force us all to marry opposite-sex-type people. We both identified penis-possessing people that we would be ok with: she picked Bruce Vilanch and I picked Tim Gunn. So Tim. I hope you don't mind having a Big Giant Head around your stunningly-appointed flat. Snerk!

Count me among the PR devotees. I've caught myself a several times saying "make it work" to students working on their projects for my courses.
Now that sweet, funny Chris is gone, I'll be rooting for Jillian. She's shown quite a few designs that, if I weren't a little too curvy for high fashion, I would consider buying. And she's been relatively versatile, not as one-note as the other two.
But I still miss Chris--he made me want a green leopard-skin hoodie.

I liked Chris. I even liked the human hair element--I mean, what giant cojones it takes to not just toy with that idea, but to just throw that hair around that waist!
But now I think I'm rooting for Christian. Yes, he's obnoxious, but I saw his final designs and I think they're just fantastic. Would I wear any of them? Oh good lord no. I wouldn't wear anything designed by ANY couture designer. That's not the point. What they do filters down to Target eventually and there, in its safe housewifely incarnation, I will buy it.
The wild big-ass ideas have to come from somewhere, though. Chris and Christian have them. The others just design "pretty."

I was pissed they kept Rami over Chris. And I think all of Christian's "fiercness" is largely an act. Remember the HS prom girl? She nearly made him quit.

She just out fierced him, plain and simple. I think it's either going to be Christian or Jillian. My bet is that Jillian will win, she's more consistent and better suited to pull off an entire show.

I don't have cable, so the only time I get to see Project Runway is at a hotel, either during a conference or on a campus visit.
I wish I had a lot more campus visits.

Flygal and I watch and we refer to Christian as "the hummingbird". He zips around, is tiny, likes bright colors (sort of), and has an interesting plumage. We were both sad to see Chris go. At least he has interesting friends (wonder why no family or friends visit for Tim with Christian?) I am rooting for Jillian (my wife cannot stand her) but both think Christian will win. Our rule is if we hate something then the judges will like it (probably means Rami will win). Wonder why we never hear about the past winners like in other reality shows (e.g., American Idol)? Is fashion that diluted with people that it's hard to see product unless you are a super famous designer? Flygal gets Entertainment Weekly and in it they showed some of the looks for the runways shows (Bryant Park was a while back). In the magazine they had images from Chris and Sweet Pea's collections. We think all of them did the Bryant Park thing and then only the "top 3" were shown on the show.

I was wondering that too, particularly since his bed fits down onto the floor of his studio. We saw pictures of his mom & her boyfriend, so perhaps they are far away. But no friends? Too fierce for friends? Or, did he move to the city just for the show?
