The pronoun should refer to the last named noun - the university. (I know there is a more eloquent way of saying that...). I have never heard a university referred to as a she. The very few gendered nouns in English are falling out of practice (thank gawd!) - ships, countries, etc.
So, are you going to apply?
No point; they explicitly state that the successful applicant will have a quality (strong Christian faith, for the record; I try to be involved in the life of my university) to which I refuse to pretend.

Unfortunately, I think conjugate gives good advice.

Here's an ad that contained a few red flags that I thought people might like to comment on. I won't identify the school. The successful applicant will have a strong Christian commitment, and a willingness to be involved in the life of the university and her students. Does "her" mean that the applicant is expected to be female, or that the university is female? It's not a state school, and I won't be applying, but I wondered about that sentence. My guess is that "her" refers to the instructor and it was an attempt to be "sensitive."

OMGSFD has passed for some of my most coveted jobs, and OMGSFD is coming for the others. This is killing me. I have to get out of this job. I'm compiling a list of alternate careers. "Marxist revolutionary" is really all I can come up with.
Sigh.

Yeah, I was never a Marxist until I worked in our nation's public system of education. Good luck! And just think, you can be the first Marxist aerobics guru ;). Red legwarmers, anyone?

I always wanted to grow to be a mad scientist. I could either have a basement lab like Grandpa on The Munsters or have a secret lair inside a hollow mountain.

Yeah, I was never a Marxist until I worked in our nation's public system of education. OK, I'll bite: What's connection? Watching my spouse work in public education made me consider the merits of monarchy. At least a monarch could dictate meaningful standards. ;-)

OMGSFD has passed for all but two of my applications with no responses. I'm sending out another batch soon, thankfully. Still, this really sucks.

It's possible that my OMGSFD calculations were based on false assumptions; maybe 4 weeks is more accurate?
OMGacademe, you are obviously the OMG expert. What do you think? Would you agree that there are still many fabulous job opportunities for you this year?

Good question! I would be interested in knowing what others think. Should OMGSFD be three or four weeks after a deadline? OMGacademe, you are obviously the OMG expert. What do you think? Would you agree that there are still many fabulous job opportunities for you this year?
It doesn't feel like there will be many more fabulous job opportunities for me this year. Maybe I will be proven wrong! And "obviously the OMG expert" is so going to be my new tagline!

Excellent! I love it.
Omgacademe, should we take sides? I stay with 3, you take 4. This could prove to be a forumical major debate and if we collude now to take different sides, we could call ourselves the founding forumites of the field of OMGSFD.

Absolutely. I have no doubt that this will become a debate that lasts at least through this job market season. Heck, we could even poll people to see how long after the deadline most people were contacted to see which group is correct: the three-weekers or four-weekers.
Founding Forumite of the Field of OMGSFD has a nice ring to it. Can I put that on my CV?
