Did something change in the layout or css for the forums? I'm seeing a white column on the left, to the left of all the links, that's about 1.25 inches wide. This is in Safari 2.0.4. Seems like it shouldn't be there.

I haven't noticed any changes (Windows XP, Mozilla 1.0.7 and related flavors depending on the machine I'm using).

I see that large white column, too, and don't remember seeing it. I have WIndows XP and Internet Explorer.

On a whim, I hit refresh on the page after posting my note ... and now I'm getting the white column.   Ugly and a waste of space!

With widescreen monitors, I'm getting a white column on both sides, as though its been formatted down to fit a regular screen (whereas before the middle text/posts would simply expand to fit the wider screen).

Not only ugly but sad also.

Playing around further, the width of the column depends on the width of the browser window. It seems the content is being centered in the window, rather than being flush left. If I make the window narrow enough, the column disappears. In any case, it seems like the content should be flush left, not centered.

I noticed this at first because when I posted on another thread, my moniker was clipped at the last 'e', which I hadn't seen before. I used to be able to make the window wide enough to prevent this, but now it seems like the content has a max width, even if the browser window is very wide. I don't like being dr_strangelov!

On my home PC, this format is not a problem, but on my office computer, now I have to shift everything to the right in order to read it.

PITA.

Hopefully the formatters-that-be will see this thread and hear our woe!

Oh, I see what you mean. Someone has hard-coded the content width to be 1000 pixels. So if your browser window is narrower than that, you'll have to scroll to see everything. If your browser window is wider, then you get the white borders on the left and right.

Bad CHE, no cookie for you!

So I'm not the only one who suddenly has a squishy screen between two white bars.  I'm getting it with both Mozilla and Explorer.

I feel claustrophobic and all squishy.

I hate this new format. I wonder if they are making more room for Google ads. Google, trading over $600 and poised to take over the world. Don't say you weren't warned.

I am seeing the change and finding the fora much harder to read as a consequence - I have an eyesight problem and the bright white bars at the side are causing me real problems in reading the page. I also feel as though the print is a lot smaller on my monitor, which is really unhelpful. This layout is truly horrible.

I HATE THIS NEW FORMAT!

Every time I turn the page I have to scroll right or left. (I am on my office PC right now.)
