Well, if they have continually been chatty since the start of the semester, perhaps the prof just reached his limit and exploded. Not his finest moment, probably, but we've all been there.

Actually, they haven't been all that chatty. As I said, they're not generally badly behaved, just clueless. (One of them was the guy that I posted about elsewhere that couldn't figure out how to cut and paste to make Flashcards.)

After looking at the exam I'm kind of wondering if something is up with the prof. I haven't had him before, but he's apparently known as being pretty laid back. He's a retired elementary school Principal, and he's getting up there in age. The exam is filled with typographical and gramatical errors, and errors of other sorts. (Example: One question is about "William" saying one thing and "Larry" saying something else. Is William correct? Is Mary correct? Are both correct, or is neither correct? "Larry" is never mentioned anywhere. Thankfully, Larry is not correct. I've no idea what Mary had to say about the subject, so I will assume that she wasn't correct, either. William is apparently an idiot who also failed his ESL test.)

One of the oddest things was that not a single person, including me, and not even the kids he left standing at the front of the room, even bothered to turn around to watch. Heads shot up and then we all just went back to what we were doing. I think we were all just too surprised. When he finished screaming he simply walked back up to the front of the room and picked up where he'd left off. From that point until the end of the class it was like it never happened. No one even talked about it at break. As I said, it was surreal. Maybe it was his version of a Jedi mind trick, although I'm told that this is entirely out of character for him.

I haven't seen my partner, yet. I'll let you know what I find out.

Sounds like a prof I know, and he is crazy.

Today before class...

Student 1: It says "I am a bad ass" here. Did you write this?
Student 2: No, I think she must have. It's her work on this side.

This is the point at which I realize that the scratch paper I gave Student 2 when he came to my office hours for some help has lots of my work on the other side (which I knew) including (which I did not know) the aforementioned marginalia.

D'oh!

So the obvious question I have for you, Ptarmigan, is:

Are you a bad ass?

Well, the rumor going around my class says so...

No, but seriously, I was just glad it wasn't one of the ones where I wrote something like "I suck and will never get this :(" (but with the theatric frowny-face which has x's for eyes, indicating that it is both sad and dead).

Clearly, Ptarmigan, you need to get custom-made stationary with a footer-line that says something like "Bad-Ass Math Class Lass!"  Perhaps something like, "Learn the Math or you Can't Pass the Class from the Bad-Ass Math Class Lass!"

You could compose videos for your math classes with large, ominous-looking rappers chanting the line while gesturing threateningly at the student, as an introduction to subjects like Completing The Square

Okay, maybe not.

Well, that's what many people (including a significant number of forumites) believe.
