Read Ms. Mentor today. Can you figure out what the student was wearing? "Squirrel ears. Identity changed to protect identity"? Whatever could this student be wearing? I am perplexed.

Vulcan ears?  I too was quite perplexed.  And somewhat indifferent.  That was such an off-the-wall choice of example that I didn't quite know what to make of it.  Tattoo, I can understand.  Nose ring, yep.  Mohawk, sure.  But squirrel ears? WTF?  I have no context for that.

I wondered if it was something completely different, like weird T-Shirts or something.  All that really mattered for the article was that it was clear that the student was wearing something completely unprofessional.

Yes, but why disguise it? Any number of fashion choices would be pretty common across the universe of academe.

I was  thinking rabbit ears ala playboy!

It actually says

Clearly, this is some item that is named <some animal other than a squirrel> ears.

Bunny ears are a possibility, although that seems like a long shot. Maybe mouse ears, like the disney hat, but that also seems unlikely.

Completely bafled as to what animal's ears this person was wearing. Sounds inappropriate though.
