I'm slightly sick with the bug going around.  This is actually good because it gives me an excuse to stay home and tell everyone to leave us alone.

SWEET!

I got approval for travel reimbursement for a trip that is MOSTLY FOR FUN over Spring break. A grant I'm on is going to cover my airfare.

AND we just got word that there will be additional travel funding from the department as well, and my chair has said that I will likely get MORE funding to cover my awesome trip to Canada this summer (I have a grant, but it's not covering all of it - this funding would make up a huge chunk of the difference)

AND we spoke to a second mortgage broker today who indicated that we will qualify for an awesome home loan that we didn't think we'd qualify for!

It's a good day.

Nice inhales, everyone.

Some of you might remember when my kids' favorite babysitter died nearly two years ago now, about a week after his 15th birthday. I'm inhaling because tomorrow morning, his little brother is coming over to babysit for the first time. The kids are so excited. And this boy has a million dollar smile that makes me happy every time I see it, especially when I consider what he's been through.

Oh, that is a happy/sad inhale. I'm so glad that the kids can be close to someone who is presumably as awesome as his brother was, but I'm so sorry to hear for his family's loss (and your family's, too, since it sounds like he was very close to the kids.)

Thanks, Marigolds. It was a terrible loss. My kids (then 7 and 5) dealt with it in part by setting up a lemonade stand to raise money to help the family with expenses. This was totally their idea, by the way, and they raised $250 over two days. But really, I'm inhaling now, because of the way the older brother's lovely spirit is also embodied in his brother and because, as you say, it's great that the kids get to be close to someone as awesome as he was. (And also because I've got a new babysitter!)

This all gives me a very nice warm fuzzy, DrA.

Sprout had a playdate this afternoon, and I spent my blissful time alone watching ALL of Fame

Man, I miss the 80s. SO GOOD. LeRoy was genius.

The advisee that I have been trying to dump switch to a major that they are actually interested in for the past two years finally showed up in my office today with a change of major form. I have talked with Stu Dent until I am about blue in the face about GPA, progress in the major, and the fact that no physical therapy program in the US will consider an applicant with a 2.1 overall GPA. None. Zippo

As of today, Stu Dent is now someone else's problem. Woot!

Yoga four days in a row. New studios and hard classes, plus the standby class that I love and is like home.

I feel great.
