What is the opposite of venting? Inhaling? It could be sucking, but I don't think I want to call a thread that.

Anyway, I think there may have been a thread like this before, but of course it died well before the venting thread. Does anyone have any anti-vents? Good little things that happened?

My latest is: I found a great old Pete Townshend solo tune that was not a hit and put it on my iPod. It's so awesome, and I am so glad I found it. I also found an old Who tune that makes my blood pressure jump, in a good way. it's such a pleasure to hear them both again.

Oh, and my mother didn't stay that long.

Yay, mcdlt!

There was a "something good happened today"-type thread, but I don't feel like looking it up now, and the forum won't suffer from having another!

1. It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
2. I was able to arrange a meeting with someone I'd been meaning to meet with for some time.
3. Our ILL folks are great.
4. I successfully replaced the pedals on my bike without stripping the threads.  (With advice graciously provided by John Proctor!)

Even at this late date those guys are still electrifying. Which songs popped up for you?

I must admit that whenever Townshend solo material comes to mind, I "hear" it with Daltrey's voice, not his.

Ahh... its vinyl tonight!

I had rather hoped that this thread was going to be about inhaling something in particular.

Me too! Only it was Friday. And it was via e-mail. And I haven't decided whether I want to respond yet.

The temperature and dew points have dropped 10 degrees since I wrote my homesick whining venting thread on the grad forum last week.

When I post this, I will be the last poster on the top five threads. I reign supreme as thread killer.

I broke a shoelace this morning, but then decided I'd rather wear flip flops, anyway.

I did.

While in my office, and even now at home, I was barefoot.

Well, I am a little embarassed at how much I love it...Another Tricky Day. Pretty late in the game, but it starts with an excellent riff, then the bass kicks in...ahhhh. I feel a thrill. The Pete Townshend song is "And I  Moved", from Empty Glass.

Congrats, McDLT!

Oh, sorry--were we not quoting Ian Dury? My bad.

Thanks for the congrats!  I'm exhausted.

There's a week and a half to go before classes start -- I'm teaching intro courses that I've taught before -- so I'm spending my time online, surfing aimlessly.  When that grows tiresome, I'll try staring vacantly into space.

I've also reestablished a friendship by email.  It's kinda fun!

Inhalations:

Husband submitted his thesis yesterday.

Mini Macaroni's HB was 168 at the midwife office yesterday, and she found it right away, which is always good for my nerves.

The office ladies have major sweetteeth and keep a ready supply of Bottlecaps and Sweet Tarts, which I had not had in years.

My banana was perfectly ripe this morning and very tasty in my Cheerios.

I haven't showered yet and must facilitate a training session from 12-2, but I'll still have plenty of time after that to get the prep done for tomorrow's classes and be home by four.

Husband is applying for a new job for which he is totally qualified and which would mean a 20% raise. We both know there will be hundreds of applicants, but the possibility is still lifting our spirits. (He has lousy colleagues now and it depresses him, which depresses me.)

Last night, I got to watch firemen with chainsaws hack down the abandoned 500-square foot house that sits across the street. (The old guy died about seven months ago, same week as my son, actually. There was some sense of closure in this.) I don't know what happened to elicit the situation in the first place, but chainsaws are fun to watch.

I have a brilliant idea for an essay. I haven't had a brilliant idea for an essay since 2006.
