I just had a fabulous interview at an R1 in the U.S. and would absolutely accept the position, IF the offer included assistance in finding my non-PhD husband a job in the area. However, I'm a US citizen and he's Canadian. I want to be prepared for negotiations on this subject (which is a deal-breaker for us) if they do come back with an offer but am not sure how to approach it. Does anyone have experience with this?

For what it's worth, I did try searching the fora first but couldn't find anything that fit this specific situation.

If your husband is not an academic in your field, there is not much your department can do other than try.  If you are a superstar that the Dean covets, then possibly they can find him something nonacademic elsewhere in the university, or (if he is an academic) try to talk the department in his area into hiring him...but don't count on that.

When you get the offer, just tell the department that you can only come if your husband gets a job, and ask in what way they are ready to help with that. - DvF

If I've read this post correctly - you are a US citizen, and presumably married to your husband, so you can sponsor his greencard application which will take the pressure off him getting a work visa - and will give him more options when looking for a job in the US.  It's quicker, less painful and easier to get a greencard through marriage than through work anyway.  Go see an immigration lawyer, or at least check out the process on line and get the ball rolling as soon as you can.
