Thanks.

In that case, it was probably unnecessary, since the subject matter is clearly not of the frivolous/comedic/nonsequitur variety.  Still, in the absence of a dedicated place for such threads, it seemed like a reasonable way to differentiate it as a "serious" thread.

(Realistically, it may just mean that people will pass it over in search of "lighter" fare!)

I wish I knew more about the situation so that I could make some comments.  I'm certainly waiting for other replies.

Namazu has [The Study] prefixed to a new thread.

I think this is a good idea if anyone feels the need to do this for other conversations.  If the mods won't grant us an entire section, we can at least express our intentions for individual threads.

I noticed that (namazu's thread).  Seems like a reasonable way to proceed.  (Good on you, namazu!)

Good idea, Namazu. Let's see if it picks up. It might be best, though, to place the [The Study] in the first post, so that we can type it into the search engine. That way we can find Study threads quickly. Alas, the search function doesn't work on the thread titles...

I just tried; the search function still picks out any old use of the word study.

I dunno. It seems to me that the line between serious and comic is indistinct and that meant threads dance back and forth between the two.

Dr_Stones, in the Study . . .

I am firmly of the opinion that so much of it is a function of how we are wired.  I am fatalistic, yet driven by a profound belief that things will turn out better next time, even if they don't.  Giving up is just not part of the equation.  So, for me, the serious is the comic, because no matter how serious the circumstances, there must be something either humorous or absurd at work.

I tried to get the lonely hearts club the other day, using just "lonely". The first ten hits didn't even show the word lonely.
