First, I apologize if these questions have already been asked. I used the search function and only came up with a recommendation of Sakai as an alternative to Blackboard.

My new school switched over last year. When I ask questions, my colleagues look at me like I am ET and the support guys either say no (students can't have their own blogs in a course) or tell me they wish I hadn't asked (changing tool titles evidently causes some administrative difficulties). Isn't this really the whole point of Open Source, to make it useful?

Anyway, back to the questions.

When you use a drop box, everything is organized by student...
When you use an assignment, everything is organized by the assignment...
Isn't there a way to go back and forth between these organizational methods? I would like to be able to quickly grade all the students' work each week, but have an easy method to track a single student's progress. (y'know, like an RSS feed from their individual blogs would have been nice) For me the ideal solution would be to have access to everything new in the dropbox. Is there a way do do this that I haven't been able to figure out?
