If I hear one more stinking Brit tell me that summers USED to be warmer I'll ... well it won't be pretty.
Where is the Global Warming?

Global warming is more about climate extremes than actually getting hot everywhere. Pray you aren't wearing mittens next July.

The problem is that we're wearing mittens this August!

I thought it was more about scaring people into doing what the environmentalists what want to have them do?

In the Southern U.S.?
Yup, expatinuk, we have cornered the market on global warming here in Alabama and Mississippi, well, really, the whole heart of the SouthEast.

I'll send you 20 degrees, expat. Temps in the south have been over 100 for a week now, so we're happy to share. (Do you use Celsius? In that case, we'll send you 7 degrees.)

We'll take 'em in whatever form you've got them, minor_t. I'm sitting here in a bloody polo neck sweater, and I'm a native and used to it!

Yes, minor_t, send it over. Although today was better - 16 degrees and it felt positively tropical in the sun (and out of the wind)!

And exactly where, in these windswept isles, did you find a spot "out of the wind"? Some of us have been looking for this fabled beast for decades!

Those I know in the UK do seem to be in unusually bad moods this summer: when they aren't getting flooded out or having their electricity turned off because of the floods, they are turning up the central heating. They don't seem at all happy for me when I tell them about the lovely weather here.

Wind straight from the north today. Back of house faces south and colored white. Table and chairs nestled against wall of house. Thought seriously about shorts - absolutely roasting! Forecast good for tomorrow - will be working at home.

Sounds wonderful. About all I can say in this E-W facing flat is that at least winds from the N mean that the inbounds to LHR 27R aren't queueing up overhead for a change!

Great. All of this weather sitting over the UK will be over ME tomorrow. Like I'm looking forward to that. I've been bundled up in fleeces as it is.
