Can anyone tell me what the local reputation is of the Singapore Management University? They are rather new, so do not appear in any rankings. Do they have a strong academic profile, and how would they compare to other universities in the area.
If anyoen is working there: is it a teaching oriented place, or do you get sufficient time for research?
SMU seems to have done well in attracting certain local students who might otherwise have gone elsewhere.
A couple of years ago SMU moved to a new campus in what is essentially the downtown part of Singapore. So, that should help in fostering links with the business community.
SMU can be called semiprivate. It was set up to run as a private university, but it has been supported by the government.
