It's a minor annoyance, I know.  But I'm getting tired of the software thinking that I don't know how to spell words.

For example, I type in "non sequitur", a perfectly good English word that comes straight from Latin and the forum software underlines it in RED.

On an academic forum shouldn't we have a decent spell check dictionary which would more accurately represent an educated person's vocabulary?

Is it CHE or perhaps your browser that doesn't know you? When I use CHE spell checker, it highlights in yellow the misspelled words (and I have to push the "Spell Check" button). But Firefox underlines them in red, automatically.

If it's your browser, you should be able to add words to your own dictionary.

Mods... can you check if the forum software has a 'personal dictionary' option?

Spell checks are always funny to me.  I am in Canada right now, so every time I write flavour, or signalling, it comes up with the big, red underline.  What the.  I just spell checked this message, and there were no errors.  Hold on here.  Flavor.  Wow, a bilingual spell check.  I am truly speechless.  Now if only MS can do the same.

I'll ask our tech experts whether this option exists and get back to you.

Merigan,

If you're using Firefox, you should be able to add words to make your own customized dictionary.

Mods, I've often been frustrated by having the spell-checker catch properly spelled words (and especially compound words and forumites' monikers) that aren't in its vocabulary.  Does this software have the ability for users to create their own custom dictionaries?

Thanks.

Sorry, Infopri, but I'm told the software doesn't have the ability to do this. As I noted in another message, however, your browser probably does.
