I've been poking around on various forums and have noticed a large amount of snarky comments/asides re: folks in Education. What's up with that??

Unfortunately, Education folks are usually the first to get zapped with the newest buzzwords and trends in educational accountability.  In order to satisfy their accreditors, they have to generate mind-numbing, tree-killing reams of documentation to prove that they have judged, measured, assessed, evaluated, and beaten to death any potential for true innovation.  Unfortunately, the regional accrediting agencies tend to pick up on the education agencies' obsessions soon enough (anyone in the Southern Association can attest).  Bottom line -- we may criticize them, but what they are being forced to do today - we will be forced to do tomorrow.

For me, it's too many experiences with people who do things like have their students make up song lyrics to show their grasp of deep philosophical concepts, or make collages in upper-level literature courses.
