Mods-- Is it possible to make it against the rules to refer to other posters using pet names that are obviously meant to be derogatory? (i.e. "honey")
I daresay this has only recently become a consistent problem worthy of a "rule," but it is definitely a problem and wholly offensive. I like to think we'll see eye to eye on this issue.

But what if the poster doesn't mean it in a derogatory way? (What if he's being ironic? Sorry, couldn't resist...) Seriously, though, I use such terms affectionately, when I use them. But who's to tell for sure? Someone could certainly misconstrue my intention.

I understand what you mean, but in this case, I daresay it's quite obvious. Frankly, I'm ticked that this has been allowed to go on for so long.

Can you give us some links to threads showing where this has been going on for a long time?

My goodness, that was an exceptionally good analysis of the forum.

In this case, though, it's the general behavior of the poster that's a problem, and which should be addressed, in my mind. I'm not keen on speech codes.

I, personally, find "honey" endearing. Mods-- Is it possible to make it against the rules to refer to other posters using pet names that are obviously meant to be derogatory? (i.e. "honey")

Basically, though, people need to stop responding. This train wreck has got to slide to a stop at some point.

The most recent case of calling someone 'honey' was a married couple.

Yeah! We also need to make (enforce) a rule against calling people trolls. And all of those oh-so-cutsie ways of calling a person a troll without actually using the word. And talking about cats. I hate it when people talk about cats.

That wouldn't work. There'd be nothing left but tumbleweeds and cricket chirpings.
