Boffo idea.  Let's think of all the names that could go into the killfile.

Sweetie
Dearie
Lovey (with apologies to Mrs. Thurston Howell III)
Babe
Dingbat (with profound apologies to Mrs. Archibald Bunker)

Any others?

Can you give us some links to threads showing where this has been going on for a long time?

Still waiting, noodled.

You are among the Pure and Truthful, however small their Number.
My goodness, that was an exceptionally good analysis of the forum.

Umm.  Sweetie.  That would be furry winged old bat and he is the beaky buzzard.  My parents have a really weird sense of humor.

I personally think that it is never ok to call pets by derogatory names and I second noodled's request to the moderators that any post that refers to pets by derogatory names be immediately deleted and the poster banned for at least 23 days.

I know for a fact that Sweetums (my doberman) and Snuggums (my pitbull) are apalled by the way squirrels, beavers, racoons, and even domesticated pets are subjected to continual verbal and mental abuse on this forum!

It must be brought to a stop!!

I very fondly call my horse, "Stupid."

And he answers to it.
